Mehaffey Park in Loveland, Colorado is a community focal point, combining traditional fabricated play features with graceful geological forms to blur the line between nature and public infrastructure. Using di Giacomo’s maquette method and rock castings, Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete forms create artisan rock walls and panels that weave through the playscape. The fabricated forms serve as the structural foundation for many of the traditional elements like the tube slide and rope bridge, while also complimenting the surrounding landscape as the plains and the foothills begin to merge on the edge of the Front Range.
